Where can I sell my empty ink cartridges?
I have about a hundred empty ink cartridges. Can someone point me in the direction of a reputable on-line place that buys them? I know about exchange programs at some stores like Staples, but I’m not interested in that.
As a broke med student, I want a place that buys them. LOL!
LMFAO! Ink cartridges are the things that allow inkjet printers to print.
I am emphasizing the word SELL. I am not interested in donatingthem, having them refilled, or anything else like that. I’m a poor med student who needs cash. LOL!
Haha! Thanks Truth! You rock!
Hey Doc- Oh stop yer whinin’ I have the answer!
You can and should sell back carts for charity. I do at times but not to HP. They are or seem to be anyway a self serving group only looking out for HP. Which in this day and age is all too common. They are continuing to limit the ink supplies along with Dell, Lexmark, and Epson when sold OEM in all carts and selling them for more and more. While they “give away” rather ratty iterations of printers which are so ink hungry you have to wonder how it is they can continue to do it. But we just go along and along and along. Problem is for them anyway, that after-market companies just rode around them and their greed. Wiki has a great article on the process. Here is a excerpt.
The legality of this industry (after market) was brought to the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit in the case of Lexmark Int’l v. Static Control Components. The Court ruled that reverse-engineering the handshaking procedure to enable compatibility did not violate the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.[5] Heh heh, red faces all around I am sure.
Anyway there are a huge number of after-market companies who sell carts on the cheap. When I had a huge number of OEM carts just like you I went looking for the same deal. What I found was that a cart for my printers, Canon i9900 while they sold OEM for $15 to $18 at Staples (my printers take 8 carts, that’s right 8!!!) I could get them for $1.95 from an after market group. They will take the carts back and send them off to I suppose some dark basement in China which probably fills all the carts under a thousand names, and will give you credit for such. Not much but when the cart cost under two bucks what the heck?! So instead I gave them, my OEM carts, to my church and apparently they got some credit for them and I bought a hundred bucks worth of carts to use. BTW they are filled to the top with wonderful ink. Again unlike the OEM product. Probably three times the printing capability of OEM, not scientific I just know how often I used to change them out. Now since there are so many companies out there selling refills and bulk re-fillers, I will not promote any one company. Actually if we all go out and find a bunch of them and come back to Y!A with the results we can help a ton of folks with this costly fiasco. Best of luck to all. BTW, I recommend you use Mozilla Firefox as your search engine for this if for no other reason then the easy warning they give for bad sites in this search. Some “Ink” resellers are actually data dumps and will haunt you forever if you go there. Again don’t give out your info until you are perfectly clear what they want from you. You will be amazed in doing an ink-jet search in Mozilla how many RED Circles you will see. Stay away from those. They are dangerous and mostly in other countries. Do you really want to get your ink from Nigeria? Maybe there are good ones there but I am thinking I don’t want my ink attached to three thousand ads for male enhancement or dates with beautiful women from Singapore. Wait a second!. . . Never mind! Anyway good luck and everybody bring back their stories of success.
