My HP L7680 is printing color fine, but black ink prints blank lines. Requires print head cleanings everyday?
My HP L7680 is used for printing and nothing else. I’ve had it about 5 months (bought it refurbished from Woot). Worked perfect until about 2 weeks ago. Have replaced the black ink cartridge once with a no name brand. It worked fine for about 2 months, printing great. Then all of a sudden it started printing (all black ink documents) with blank lines an even 1 inch apart. I had to go in and use the “clean printheads” and it would fix it. It has gotten worse and now EVERY DAY I have to clean the printheads a good 7-10 times before the black becomes perfect again. The blank lines have become much wider to where large chunks of the document are missing. First assumption was the aftermarket ink, but it printed perfect for 2 months+! PLEASE HELP!
It sounds like you may need to manually clean your black print head. There are some fairly detailed instructions here;
